Rating: 5 out of 5.

EXCELLENT – It’s a very nice detective story that kept me in suspense until the case was resolved. It presents the characters very vividly and the plot unfolds in such a way that it does not let you stop reading the book. I recommend it to all lovers of this kind of novels.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

GREAT MUSIC STORY – The story of Bobby who has made some bad choices in life. I thought this was going to the run of the mill sex, drugs and rock-and-roll story but this story goes deeper. Don’t expect a high octane page turner here, but the pace is constant. This is more of a piece of literary fiction than genre fiction, but anyone can get something from this story. I read the book in two sessions (one on the beach with my eReader) and found it very enjoyable. The only criticism I have is that the author tends to tell rather than show. Some scenes are writing in a matter-of-fact way. Like so and so went to college, etc. The story is strong, so it isn’t that much of a problem. If you ignore those parts, it is a very good story.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

LOVED THIS BOOK! – Wow, what a great book! I’m picky when it comes to books like this, but it was excellent! The conversations were real, something I rarely see in the books I’ve read lately. They were believable and realistic. It made me feel something, like intense, another quality that is lacking in most the books I read. You need to put your paragraphs together with indentations. Very descriptive and interesting book, great job Jerry!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

A BRILLIANT MEMOIR – The author’s experiences in the pointless Vietnam conflict are described in this memoir. Although much has been written pro & con about this war, Cullison’s memoir is a special contribution. It is about the experiences of the “every-day-Joe” in a war without meaning and purpose.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

EXCITING, ENTERTAINING AND ENJOYABLE – The Swamps of Jersey is a classic crime novel. It is exciting and unpredictable as well as extremely well written, high class and catchy. I liked the plot and the author’s detailed descriptions of locations and characters. It helped me picture the scenes. I highly recommend it.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

CONTEMPORARY NOIR – I’m a big fan of noir and pulp stories, and Ron Shannon’s “Gabriel’s Wing” highlights a lot of what is good in that kind of fiction: a kind of dark mystery with engaging characters and a strong narrative voice. I enjoyed this a lot.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

LOVE THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT – Why? Because the character development in this book was amazing, I loved the main characters. not only that but the writing was amazing. i have never been to many of the places listed in the book but the way Ron was explaining it, painted a clear picture in my mind.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

THIS WAS TOP SHELF WWII ESPIONAGE FICTION – Well-written, ambitiously conceived, WWII fiction at its best. The characters and their interractions vie for attention with the unfolding plot. Honestly, my reading-dollar has rarely gotten such value. If you like historical fiction, this is worthy of your time and money and praise.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

GOOD READ – Faith lost is an interesting tale, though hard to peg down in order to describe. I enjoy tales that raise questions of the soul’s journey and its interconnection with the longing question about the meaning of life. I can recommend it as a good read.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

GREAT READ BUT… – It ended off on a cliff hanger., which is fine. Readers are left to imagine the overall outcome. However, some may not be too fond of this. Other than that, it was a great read!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

PERSONAL & INTRIGUING – I didn’t know much about the Vietnam war, other than what we read in school. This book gives a personal insight into what the author went through, and though, I’m sure each soldier’s experience was different, they were all practically “in the same boat”. What the author said from the very beginning was “This story is not the whole truth because truth can’t be told in a story. Only experience can. I have to convey my experiences in Vietnam the way I lived them. That’s why I’m telling you the story in my own way.” There are some critical reviews about this book about the author being “negative towards his experience in Vietnam”. Well, frankly, I think they’re stupid because most of them were not there, and obviously they can’t appreciate a veteran’s story about his experience. A little off-topic, but had to get that out. Thank you, Marc, for your service! Overall, would definitely recommend this book!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

ENGAGING – Very engaging mystery.
Highly recommended!

 INTRIGUING PREMISE – 4 STARS

I like that it was opened up to a universal idea, allowing the reader to question the meaning of life and souls intertwined. Descriptive writing and colourful characters make this a good read.

SUCH A THRILLING ADVENTURE SERIES – 5 STARS

Wow I am super impressed with the author’s ability to tell a fantastic story. She had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Make sure you read the first book in the series otherwise you’ll be lost. This book is filled with adventure and will leave you wanting more 🙂 Do not hesitate to buy this series.

LOVED IT! – 5 STARS!

I’m a sucker for a good love story, but I tend to avoid the tear jerkers. You know from the description this one won’t have a happily ever after, but I’m so glad I took a chance on it. Loved the characters, loved the setting, and it’s such a sweet, heartfelt story. A very enjoyable read.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – 5 STARS!

In this excellent novella, the author hooks you right away with a crime and some excellent writing. I love Michael’s use of metaphors and the way he sticks close to his lead character – you can see things happening through Nagler’s eyes. There are a few instances where the author tells us what the character is feeling instead of taking the time to lead us there through descriptions, imagery, actions and/or thought, but I’ve noticed the best authors do this at times, and it takes little away from the quality of writing overall. A very enjoyable read.

WORTH A READ – 4 STARS

I recently watched The Man in the High Castle, so when this book popped up for .99cents I gave it a try. Enjoyable and thought provoking. The Hedgerows of June iS a good read, only beef is its too short!

 MARVELOUS BOOK – 5 STARS

The author and I share two things in common related to my father. Both are from Oklahoma and both served in Vietnam. Your book has confirmed all the stories from his service there. If I did not know better, I would swear you would be twins. He vowed he would never go back to Vietnam, and he never did. I commend your willingness to go back and try to comprehend what it was all about. Follow Marc on his venture back to the place he so longed to forget. This book is a worthy read for anyone trying to make sense of a life event. It takes courage to re-examined these events, and you tell your story so well. Grab the audiobook as well Marc narrates superbly.

GRITTY MYSTERY – 5 STARS!

Tillie Whistlethorn is a New Orleans beauty working for the FBI who gets caught up in a dangerous group of people. She’s aided by a private investigator who sounds more like Fabio, with his long hair and good looks. This page-turner keeps you guessing and by the end of the book, I wanted a cigarette and a glass of whiskey on the rocks like the characters. Set in the the late ’60s, the cross train travel, the vintage car descriptions, and the edgy details of the sex trade reveal every age has its own evils and heroes. I practically read this book in one sitting. It was highly entertaining.

A GREAT PARANORMAL STORY!! – 4 STARS!

This is an intriguing story that is great for all ages that keeps you engaged. Lots of action. Highly recommended!!!

RAW & HONEST – TRULY DIFFERENT LOOK AT VIETNAM – 5 STARS!

Being born in the mid sixties, I remember Vietnam, but was too young to really absorb all that was happening. I, of course, have since read much on it. This author gives a different look than most books. I compare it to Leander Stillwell’s A Common Soldier of Army Life in the Civil War. It’s not meant to be a historical record of battles, events, losses, and victories. Both books are meant to take the reader inside the life of one particular solider; to be with him during his commission. This book causes the reader to see what the author sees, experience what he experiences, and make you feel like you are right along side him. It’s not always pretty, and you may not agree with the author’s take or response to some circumstances. But, this book is Marc Cullison’s experience, not ours or anyone else’s. Mr. Cullison is brutally honest and completely open with the reader. That is why I am giving this book 5 stars. He has pulled the curtain back, and allowed us an uncensored view of his life and experience as an officer during the Vietnam War. Thank you for that!

VERY WELL WRITTEN – 5 STARS!

I really enjoyed this book, definitely a page turner! The writing is unique and has its own gripping style. Detective Frank Nagler is a great hero cop character, from a small city in New Jersey. The story is interesting and the suspense is very well done, it keeps you involved. There are curves, beyond just finding a murderer, that lead to more politics than mystery. I highly recommend this book to whoever enjoys a good crime novel with political side tones. A well written story and I look forward to the next book in the series. You won’t be disappointed!

THE FRANK NAGLER MYSTERIES BY MICHAEL STEPHEN DAIGLE

REALLY GOOD – 5 STARS!

Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2020

This book is so top notch. It’s like a really good Scotch. Very satisfying, feels old school, seems like reading it made me cooler, or at least feel like a cooler person. This is a perfectly well crafted, balanced, detective thriller.

WELL WRITTEN CRIME DRAMA – 5 STARS!

This was a well-written crime story. The protagonist detective character was well crafted and the plot flowed in a manner that made this a real page-turner. Definitely recommend.

CONTENT IS DARK AND GLOOMY, BUT AS USUAL, AUTHOR DELIVERS A POWERFUL, WELL-CRAFTED STORY – 5 STARS!

The author avoids sensationalism here. As dark as the plot gets, what stands out, as usual, are the characters and dialogue. There is never a lack of scandal in Ironton, New Jersey, a city whose glory days are in the past, but where a few good people hope to make real and lasting improvements.
Police detective Frank Nagle is one of them. One of the best things about this series is that readers can start anywhere and not feel like they are missing out on so much. The author is very adept at giving enough of the backstory to whet readers; interest in going back to earlier novels.
Characters who have appeared in earlier novels of the series reveal some surprising things about themselves in this book. The author makes it all fit together in a fast-paced riveting story.

MARC CULLISON

FIVE STARS – 5 STARS!

A very well written and interesting memoir. I also enjoyed reading about his return to the states and his thoughts about Vietnam.

RON SHANNON

A SOLID BOOK – 5 STARS

Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2020‘The Hedgerows of June‘ is a great book. Ron Shannon Is a talented author; every aspect of the book is high quality. “Hedgerows” is a well-written page-turner with a narrative that kept my attention until the end.

The main and supporting characters are well-developed. It was clear to me that the setting was well-researched.

 I ENJOYED THIS! – 4 STARS!

At first I wasn’t sure I would be able to stay interested in a fiction book but this one kept my attention from the first page. Being from New Jersey I enjoyed the parts of the book that were set there. Overall it was a worthwhile read and interesting story!
