Nagler book four done: ‘The Red Hand’

Michael Stephen Daigle

It’s done. The fourth Frank Nagler Mystery, called “The Red Hand.”

It’s done as much as it can be before going through an editing process and revisions, and all the stuff that follows the suspected completion of a book.

Before I describe the book, I would like to note the real life loss of one of the popular settings in the stories, Barry’s, a restaurant in Dover, N.J.

The real Barry’s was one of numerous businesses destroyed in a terrible fire this week. The fire, apparently fueled  by natural gas, destroyed a block of businesses and apartments in Dover’s historic downtown.

It’s a terrible loss, homes, jobs and futures. Agencies are working hard to help those who suffered these losses.

Barry’s was the kind of place that every downtown needs, fast, loud, filled with stories. As a newspaper reporter working in Dover for eight years, it was a place for…

Her hair was golden and her figure was framed so perfectly by the lights Mainly dwelled on the thought of how beautiful she was, and forgot for a moment that she really disliked him…

Creating Frank Nagler; ‘Just Come Home’ the prequel

A new Frank Nagler mystery is heading your way!

Michael Stephen Daigle

With a character  like Ironton, N.J.’s Detective Frank Nagler, the subject of three books, the question is how did he get to the spot he is in?  That what I’m try to answer in the prequel to the three mysteries so far. This one of called “Just Come Home.”

It will with luck explain about his wife, Martha, the city of Ironton, the serial killer, Charlie Adams, and Frank.

Here’s a look:

Frank Nagler slipped the blue jacket over his shoulders, and with a shimmy, pulled at the lapels to square it up.

It was Martha’s idea that he needed new clothes for his new job. He would have been happy just to wear his comfortable brown jacket, even if the elbows were shiny, but she insisted. At least he had his old, worn-in shoes.

She had dragged him to Benny’s Menswear where for an hour she had him model suits…

An audience of one

Michael Stephen Daigle

Her name was Sandy and she was the only other person in the room.

This was the Mountainside Public Library on Saturday where the kind folks who run the library has scheduled a reading for me.

They had placed a large poster in the doorway announcing my visit, and displayed copies of the two Frank Nagler mysteries they had in their collection, “The Swamps of Jersey,” and “A Game Called Dead.”

Thanks to the librarians for accepting a copy of the third Frank Nagler book, “The Weight of Living.”

It is hard to predict to who shows up at such readings for little known authors. I have been at some when friends and family  of a local author flood the room. I have been at others when curious readers arrive, and at others when no one arrives.

But on Saturday it was Sandy.

And what privilege it was.

I read…

Imzadi Publishing – New Releases

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00073]It has been a busy busy time for Imzadi Publishing this spring beginning with the release of Marc Cullison’s follow-up novel to The Other Vietnam War: A Helicopter Pilot’s Life in Vietnam, Vietnam Again.

The Other Vietnam War gives the reader some insight into what Marc went through in Vietnam. Not simply the struggles one would expect with experiencing life and death situations but the ethical dilemma’s one would experience as well. It is a truly unique perspective on the Vietnam War.

Vietnam Again takes place 40 years later when out of the blue Marc receive’s a phone call inviting him to accompany other Vietnam Vets on a trip back to the scene of so much trauma and upheaval, back to a place he thought he would never return to…a place he never wanted to return to.

Another fascinating read from Mr. Cullison!

The Weight of LivingThen April was upon us and the release date for the third installment of Michael Stephen Daigle’s Frank Nagler Mystery Series, The Weight of Living was quickly approaching.

This series takes place in Ironton, NJ, a dilapidated old steel town swamp deep in well developed, deep characters that anyone can relate to. Yes, that was a nod to The Swamps of Jersey, the first book in this series.

Mr. Daigle, like his character Det. Frank Nagler, doesn’t shy away from tough subjects, this book is certainly no exception.

The Weight of Living opens with a young girl dressed only in a tank top and shorts found sitting in a dumpster. She is freezing in her exposed state, shaking from the cold on a snowy New Jersey night but she sits frozen in place as though afraid to move from where she is. How did she get there? Why didn’t she ask for help? Why won’t she talk to anyone? The search for the girl’s identity begins a journey that leads Frank Nagler deep down into Ironton’s underbelly where long held secrets have been protected for decades.

I warn you, once you pick it up you won’t want to put it down. This series is addictive!

The Blackstar GambitHalf way in to May we were happy to feature a new author to the Imzadi Publishing family as we debuted Jan Domagala’s The Blackstar Gambit; book number seven in his thrilling Sci-fi Col Sec series.

This is a book full of action as Kurt Stryder and Zara hardy face their most challenging threat yet. Frantically they race from one end of the galaxy to the other in an attempt to find the truth behind an ancient cult that has spawned an evil so deadly it threatens to destroy the entire Confederation starting with planet Earth.

In The Blackstar Gambit Kurt and Zara learn that the good guys don’t always win as they stand by helplessly watching the Blackstar Gambit play out.

dragon-bone-final-coverThis catches us up to what is going on with Imzadi Publishing right now, you know you are dying to know, so last but certainly not least is our most recent release by another new author to the Imzadi Publishing family. Get ready for Aldrea Johnson’s Dragon Bone, releasing May 30th! This is the first book in her sci-fantasy series The Battle For The Four Realms.

This is a book good for all ages! If you enjoy J.R.R. Tolkein, and George R. Martin, then this will be right up your alley!

Aliedori and her brother Maldar are the heirs to the Southern Realm. The siblings take what is supposed to be a relaxing camping trip in the Sacred Forest. Maldar is hoping to discuss an important matter with his sister privately but things quickly take a different course when they are set upon by unseen forces.

Someone has cast a binding spell immobilizing Maldar and his golden dragon Keidrop in its’ web. Thinking quickly Aliedori casts a spell of her own illuminating the surrounding forest and glimpses a shadowy figure disappearing into the trees. She pursues the stranger until he mysteriously disappears…and the adventure begins!

This series is sure to be a hit with young and old alike and will be followed by the second in the series shortly so keep checking back for news about that.

Whew! See, we have been busy at Imzadi Publishing and we have something for everyone! If you have something you would like to submit to Imzadi Publishing visit our website for our submission guidelines, we are always looking for new manuscripts in any genre.

Oh, one last thing! Please don’t forget to take a moment to leave a review after reading a book. Reviews do not need to be lengthy, they can be just a few words but they are extremely helpful.
