Ron Shannon

Ron Shannon was a master storyteller whose journey began in sixth grade, inspired by his teacher’s vivid reading of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. That early spark of creativity led him to pursue dual degrees in accounting and English at Rutgers University and later a Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University.

Residing along the New Jersey shore, Ron channeled his love for history, suspense, and character-driven narratives into a remarkable writing career. His debut novel, The Hedgerows of June, is set against the backdrop of the Allied invasion of Normandy in late June 1944. The story follows Chris Weymouth, an Allied spy navigating the perilous French countryside. Readers praised the novel for its vivid depictions of wartime Europe, calling it “a gripping and evocative window into history.”

In Staring into the Blizzard, Ron shifted gears to explore the vibrant music scene of the late 1970s around Rutgers University. This poignant tale weaves themes of redemption and personal struggle as characters navigate the crossroads of their lives. Critics hailed the book for its emotional depth and ability to immerse readers in the era’s culture and challenges.

Ron’s storytelling also extended to Gabriel’s Wing, a thought-provoking tale that showcased his ability to delve into the intricacies of human relationships and personal growth. With each book, he earned a loyal following for his rich characters and compelling plots.

Although Ron tragically passed away in 2015, his work continues to resonate with readers.
