Carin Anne Watson-BickerWings at Sunrise: Soaring Above the Hurricane of MS, has been a passion project of mine. It is a marriage memoir that reflects the profound love and resilience that my husband, Chuck, and I cultivated while navigating the relentless challenges of multiple sclerosis (MS); it is an intimate exploration of what it truly means to honor the vow “in sickness and in health.”

When Chuck was diagnosed with MS at just 25 years old, our lives were turned upside down. We were newly married, full of dreams for the future, and suddenly faced with a disease that threatened to take everything we had planned together. But rather than letting MS define our story, we chose to build a life around love, hope, and a shared determination to live fully despite the obstacles.

From cross-country moves to building a home that could adapt to Chuck’s needs, to becoming parents through adoption, every step of our journey brought challenges—but also immense joy and purpose. As Chuck’s strength waned and I stepped into the role of caregiver, I discovered a well of strength and patience I never knew existed. Our relationship was far from perfect, but it was ours—a partnership rooted in humor, trust, and the belief that no matter what, we’d face life together.

Wings at Sunrise isn’t just a memoir about MS. It’s a love story about finding light in the darkest moments, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, and a reminder that even when life feels overwhelming, there is beauty to be found. Writing this book was my way of honoring Chuck’s legacy and the incredible journey we shared, while also offering hope and understanding to others walking a similar path.

This is my story. It’s messy, it’s real, and it’s filled with heart. I hope it inspires you to see that even in life’s hardest moments, love has the power to carry us through.
